Quit Vaping Bendigo

Vaping Versus cigarettes. Which is worse?

Vaping is such a relatively new “thing” in the scheme of life that the jury is still out on vaping whilst the evidence against smoking is accepted as irrefutable and now taken for granted. However the evidence against vaping is growing rapidly.

What is vaping?

Vaping is inhaling and then exhaling a nicotine based vapour from an electronic cigarette (e-cigarette). The vapour is generated typically from heating a liquid based formula containing nicotine and other chemicals within the e cigarette creating the nicotine laden vapour that can then be inhaled.

Is vaping safe?

There is a plethora of information out there that is now linking vaping to lung disease however not enough research has been done to date to directly implicate vaping with lung disease.

“Where there’s smoke there is fire”

Extensive research is now being undertaken and the million dollar question is “people that vape that are presenting with lung issues, were they susceptible to lung disease or did the vaping cause the lung disease?”

Whats’ the verdict? Smoking or Vaping?

The data on smoking and lung disease is irrefutable and evidence is mounting against E cigarettes. The lancet in November 2019 reported that “In 2019 in the USA, an outbreak of lung injury associated with e-cigarettes or vaping (known as E-VALI or VALI) has caused the deaths of more than 37 people to date and more than 1800 people have been ill.”

And an article by Robert H Schmerling, MD in the Health.Harvard.edu in part of his summation concluded that “These cases of severe lung disease among people who vape raise important questions about the safety of vaping.”

Using a court of law vernacular vaping wins because we simply don’t have enough data on the ill health effects of vaping yet, however the debate seems to be going the same way cigarettes went in the 60s. i.e. We simply don’t have enough data to “prove beyond a reasonable doubt”.

At the end of the day to your best life your best course of action is simply don’t smoke cigarettes and stop vaping.
