Quit smoking, remotely, stop stealing your health and happiness

Excuses you may still use to justify smoking. It’s called smoker’s logic.

    • Stress
    • Relaxation
    • Bored
    • Lack of willpower/Too much willpower
    • Enjoyment
    • To keep weight down

Any and all of the above are used as excuses or reasons to stay stuck in that old habit. So let’s debunk these now and put them to the back of your mind for good.

I have to quit smoking

I feel Stressed so smoking relaxes me.

My clients cite this as the number one reason why they keep smoking. Stressed by family, finances, kids, partner, life! Anxiety from job, (having one or not!) Working from home in the pandemic creates a whole new set of challenges that none of us has faced before. Interesting to note that sales of alcohol and cigarettes have sky rocked over the little while. As people use these inappropriate behaviours to handle the fear and stress of the unknown.

It’s a common excuse but that’s all it is an excuse. The secret is to go from feeling stressed or anxious to calm using the power of your subconscious mind. In a healthy beneficial way to your body and mind. This can be achieved through our hypnotherapy program. One string to the bow of excuses.

I like to smoke as it relaxes me.

Now if you know anything about smoking from me you will know that each cigarette contains half a teaspoon of toxic sugar. You are getting the hit from the sugar. Smoking distracts you from what is going on around you and the clutter inside your head. Smoking sucks out oxygen from your brain so in a destructive way creating what is called “smoker’s fog”.

Smoking actually stimulates your heart to beat faster as it recognises the processed sugar, as well as any number of other toxic substances in cigarettes, as a poison. Your body is trying to get rid of all the poison. Processed sugar is a stimulant causing your heart and entire body to try and get rid of it as fast and efficiently as possible.

Of course there are many other carcinogens that are stimulants in cigarettes. But toxic processed sugar is the main culprit. It’s arguably the most addictive substance in the world. If you add in sugar laden drinks like “soft drinks”, like coke, iced drinks like iced coffee, or so called energy drinks, then your body is working overtime to try and rid itself of this toxicity. So it’s impossible to be smoking and physiologically relaxed. You are just on a roller coaster ride of sugar highs and lows. The feeling of being relaxed is a fake one.

We’ll address boredom and willpower next time.
